Measurement Study Guide                          Thursday February 4th

Be able to:
Ø Design and construct different rectangles, given either perimeter or area, or both (whole numbers). (Chapter 8, Lessons 3 & 4)

Ø Demonstrate an understanding of measuring length (mm, cm, m, and km) by:
• selecting and justifying objects for the unit mm
• modelling and describing the relationship between mm and cm units, and between mm and m units
• selecting and justifying objects for the unit km
• modelling and describing the relationship between m and km units (Chapter 8, Lessons 1 & 2)

Ø Demonstrate an understanding of volume by:
• selecting and justifying objects for cm3 and m3 units
• estimating volume, using objects for cm3 and m3 units
• measuring and recording volume (cm3 and m3 units)
(Chapter 8 Lessons 5, 6 & 7)

Ø Demonstrate an understanding of capacity by:
• describing the relationship between mL and L
• selecting and justifying objects for mL or L
• estimating capacity, using objects for mL or L
• measuring and recording capacity (mL or L)
(Chapter 8, Lesson 9)

***Note we may or may not have done the lessons given above in the text.  However, we did explore them through other methods such as handout sheets and class activities.  These lessons are given for study purposes.
