Division
Test Outline
Test
May 13th, 2016
·
You will need to know how to solve division
problems the traditional or old fashioned way.
·
You will need to know how to solve story
problems using front-end estimation. For
example 829 ÷ 4 would change to 800 ÷ 4.
Leave the first number and change the rest to zeros.
·
You need to know your division facts up to 81
÷ 9
·
You could be asked to round a number in an
equation to make it a familiar fact. For
example, 643 ÷ 8 could be turned into 640 ÷ 8.
·
You will need to be able to show division
using a Base 10 model like we did in class with our groups. I have included a page describing the process
from my teacher guide to help guide you if you are stuck.
·
You could be asked to calculate answers to
equations like these:
2400 ÷ 8, 560 ÷ 7, 4800 ÷ 6
Other
ways to prepare for this test
·
You can look at the YouTube video again
Spaghetti and Meatballs for All! (about 10 minutes in length) to hear a
division story. The book talks about all
the ways you can make 32.
·
You could keep playing your dice game at home
to help solidify your facts.
·
You could play Drag Race Division (google
this or download the app on your iPad) to help practice facts.
·
You can complete the extra practice sheet that I have attached to this outline.
